Sunday 20th May – Bike ***** Two Rivers – Deben to the Orwell with the Hurrells – sunny but a bit cool.

We were pleased to get a WhatsApp message from Neil yesterday saying they were up for a bike ride so we meet up with Neil and Linda at The Dip today at ten after riding along the prom to get there - a bit chilly too! The Hurrells were sitting in their latest addition for carrying the bikes etc a lovely VW van, nice colour too:) They were keen for us to show them our Two Rivers Bike Ride so we set off along the prom to Felixstowe Ferry where the Sailing Club had an open day. There was some river action with the ferry, fishing and sailing boats and half a dozen canoes ready to set off on a trip up river to Woodbridge! Picking up the river path past the boat yard we came to the sheep gate where Neil then discovered he had a flat tyre:( He has slime in his innertube so gave it a few spins to reseal the hole only to find out he had lost the pump attachment to fit his wheels so he had to return to his van to get one. Luckily, he borrowed Linda’s electric bike and whizzed there! He fitted a new tube in the end so we continued on to Kings Fleet, as usual very pretty with fields of yellow rape! Then on up along the Fleet ending up at our favourite stopping spot, Falkenham Church. Had cake with Emily (she was only 24 when buried here in the 1800,s) As Linda’s battery had loads of life we decided to carry on to Loompit lake by the River Orwell which was full of swans, geese with young and Tufted ducks to name a few. We also saw buzzards and reed buntings too :) It’s then on to the tree lined track back to Trimley and see loads of deer and a hare! We make a small detour to see our sons house before arriving home being out 4hours 15 minutes, covering 12 miles. Mag soon knocks up beans on toast before the Hurrells set off to Lidl for BBQ stuff before it closes. What a top ride and as usual the Hurrells are top company:)
